Innovations, Approaches and Strategies to Support/Enhance Student Learning
  1. Regular and timely announcements, well-written forum posts and engaging webinars for the ZZCA6510: Decision Making in Analytics course. My organisation skill and thorough understanding of the course content helped me to demonstrate my approachability in communications with students (particularly when technical issues occurred). Through the regular and timely announcements, well-written forum posts and engaging webinars, I had demonstrated my respect for students. Given the large cohort, I had additionally reached out to ‘at risk’ students.
  2. With collaboration with the Keypath team, we have introduced a number of online activities for the first time in the ZZCA6510 PG course. A few reportable activities/technologies were: Padlet, H5P (A Moodle plugin with different templates to create custom interactives), Gizmo (Keypath’s web-based library) and Dolly (Keypath’s web-based library). My main role was to monitor students’ responses in the Convenor use only tab. Based on areas of weakness, I used to recommend more resources or consider running a webinar. Also, Monitor Padlet responses and provide general feedback via general Q and A forum at the end of a week.
  3. During the delivery of the ZZCA6510 course, with the collaboration of the Keypath team, we have designed one unique assignment component (Project/Case Study), while I encouraged students to pick real-life problems from their own industry or job position and then apply decision-making tools to optimise a business goal. Reportedly, out of 89 students for this course, more than 95% were employees working throughout Australia. This assignment helped them to relate their learning to work.
  4. Development and implementation of new teaching strategies in my discipline: Introducing ‘community of learning (COL) and community of inquiry (COI)’ for both ZEIT3506 (UG) and ZZCA6510 (PG) courses.
  5. Introducing ‘MindTap’ activities in the ZEIT3506 course Moodle page for students by a successful collaboration with the Cengage Learning team. The ‘MindTap’ activity is a unique interactive platform for students to read, learn, note and highlight comments. Via this platform, they can even knock the course lecturers and drop their comments while reading. Students of ZEIT3506 (S2-2020) found this platform very engaging and helpful for their learning.
  6. Re-engineering course contents of ZEIT8310: Project Schedule and Budget Control to move to Intensive Delivery Mode in 2020.
