Education Leadership in the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBMS) (formally School of Medical Sciences, SoMS)

Deputy Head of School of Biomedical Sciences and Director of Teaching (DoT) (2021-)

As DoT I chair the SBMS education committee. One of the major tasks this committee undertakes is the review of changes made to courses and specialisations.  To ensure the highest level of compliance with UNSW policy and procedures regarding education delivery I have developed an online form that steps the reviewers through the review process to check the course under review meets all the policy requirements.

As DoT I am a member of the Faculties of Medicine & Health and Science Education Committees. As a member of these committees, I have contributed to the review and approval of new and amended courses. I am a member of the prizes subcommittee for the Faculty of Medicine & Health Education committee.

In January 2022 I was asked by the Senior Vice Dean (Education) to review all the new courses that will be part of the new Pharmacy degree.  In this role, I provided extensive feedback to the academics preparing the course outlines for each course.

Heads of Teaching (HoT) team (2017- 2021)

As a member of the Heads of Teaching (HoT) team I have contributed to the management, development, enhancement, and implementation of teaching across SoMS. I have chaired the SoMS teaching committee and acted as SoMS’ Student Integrity advisor providing guidance and oversight in handling plagiarism cases when the Deputy Head of School (education) was on leave. I attended and contributed to SoMS Executive meetings in 2019 as the representative of the HoT team.

I lead the review of SoMS’ digital teaching applications and worked with IT to future-proof SoMS’ digital teaching needs. 2019-2021

SBMS School Student Integrity Advisor (SSIA)

I am the SBMS School Student Integrity Advisor (SSIA) providing guidance and oversight to academics across the School in regard to student integrity issues.
