Educational Scholarship and Research Excellence

I am actively engaged in formal and informal teaching at multiple levels of education within the School and Faculty.

1. Educational Scholarship.

  • I have previously come from a research background and am engaging with experts in education to produce literature in my current field.
  • I aim to utilise and apply rigorous scientific methodology in study design and data analysis of Education Focused literature, which is uncommon in the field.
  • I am currently mentoring medical tutors who are engaged in teaching the Quality of Medical Practice (QMP) course, providing them with clear educational goals and supporting them to achieve their desired outcomes at UNSW.
  • I have previously co-supervised 11 students undertaking Honours, Masters and PhDs at various institutions, and have informally supervised many more.
  • I am very hands-on with acquiring and implementing student feedback, be they formal or informal, into my teaching methods such that learning outcomes are always tailored towards a practical and useful outcome for my students.

2. Research Excellence.

  • I am continually publishing in various medical fields, ranging from pure science to transitional clinical areas - I am keen to keep a foot in both research and teaching as I pursue a future in Education Focused academia.
  • I attend discipline-specific conferences to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the field, and intend to continue this in an Education Focused role. I also enroll in relevant skill-based development programmes to ensure my teaching methods incorporate research, medical, and industry based techniques where relevant.
