Workshops for physics staff

I have found that many academics in my school are keen to improve their teaching but very time poor and sceptical of centrally run training. Understandably they prefer to see specific examples of how pedagogical theory can be applied in physics.

In October 2017 I presented a colloquium on "What does research tell us about good teaching?". This was very well attended and did lead to a difference in how a number of people in the school teach.

In December 2019 along with Christne Lindstrom I ran a three hour workshop at our school retreat on Active learning. This was also very well recieved.

Over 2020 our group, PERfECT, plans to run a number of workshops for members of our school.

One way I have managed to include the student voice in training is through videos such as this one which I made with one of our students.
