I am an active member of the physics education community. I am the immediate past chair of the Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) Physics Education Group (PEG). In 2014 I was on the organizing committee for the Australian Conference on Science and Mathematics Education (ACSME), in 2019 I was on the programming committee for ACSME. In 2017 I co-chaired the PEG stream of the AIP meeting and I was on the PEG programming committee in 2018 for the AIP congress.

Along with others in the physics education committee I am working to improve the reputation of physics education among physicists. One way I am doing this is by taking students to conferences to ensure we have good representation. In December 2019 I took two students to the AIP meeting at RMIT, they both gave excellent talks. Tom Dixon won the prize for the third best student talk.
