Since 2023 I have been the School's first Director of Double Degrees. The School's dual degrees combine public health, health management, infectious disease intelligence and global health, a combination that is distinctive among Group of Eight universities, and students complete 72 units of credit across two programs. Before the role existed, students were expected to navigate between program areas and resolve inconsistencies themselves. I act as a single point of contact for the MPH/MHLM dual degree, handling student queries, admissions, recognition of prior learning and progression advice, and identifying students at risk early.
I work with the Directors of the MPH, MHLM, MIDI and MGH programs and the Director and Deputy Director of Teaching to develop the dual degrees as integrated programs. Dual degree enrolments grew from 351 in 2024 to approximately 600 in 2026. I have also supported student recruitment, including contributing to recruitment videos, international travel, and online meetings with prospective students based overseas.
Much of the role involves advocating for students who are struggling with a course or with support services, particularly international students, for whom a failed course can have meaningful flow-on impacts. This experience has shaped how I run my own courses and the advice I give other convenors.
On average I work with between five and ten dual degree students at risk each term. I meet with each of them, follow up at least once (three meetings across the term is typical) and refer them to UNSW support services. Over the past two years external pressures, including accommodation costs and insecure housing, global conflicts and visa policy changes, have markedly increased the number of students who are at risk and under stress. An important part of my role is noticing this early and trying to limit the effect these pressures have on students' study.
I am also one of the School's Student Integrity Advisors, handling suspected plagiarism and academic misconduct matters, including those involving inappropriate AI use. This perspective informed my development of the typology of assessment securing mechanisms and the AI assessment redesign.
Other education leadership roles:

- Stream Convenor, Master of Public Health in Primary Health Care (2018-2024)
- Teaching Coordinator, UNSW Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity (2018-2021), a role I developed that oversaw five postgraduate courses and acted as the focal point between the School and the Centre on teaching policy
- Participant in the pilot of the Academic Success Monitor, which uses educational data, AI and messaging to identify and support students at risk; I promoted it to School colleagues and ran an internal workshop in May 2024
