I am deeply committed to advancing education in the biological and biomedical sciences through innovative research-informed teaching. My internationally recognised research expertise in purinergic signalling, a cellular communication system that uses purine molecules (primarily ATP and adenosine) as signalling messengers, led to a prestigious invitation from Elsevier in 2023 to develop a comprehensive educational resource on ATP in health and disease.
As Co-Lead and Editor of this major international academic project, I recruited four volume editors and co-authored the book’s overview and contents, which span 47 chapters. This forthcoming publication (release date end of 2025) addresses a critical gap in the literature by presenting a clear, accessible, and rigorous exploration of extracellular ATP. It is designed for undergraduate students, honours and PhD researchers, and professionals outside of the field, making complex science understandable and engaging for a broad audience. This work represents a substantial contribution to global science education. By translating cutting-edge research into a pedagogically sound and inclusive format, I aim to empower the next generation of students and scientists and foster interdisciplinary learning.
