I have convened and managed teaching teams for two large first-year courses at different institutions:
ZEIT1307 Computational Problem Solving (UNSW Canberra, 200+ students): I managed a team of 2 lecturers and 4 lab demonstrators, coordinating lecture content across lecturers to ensure consistency, preparing lab materials, designing and moderating assessments, and running calibration sessions so that demonstrators marked to a common standard.
COMP1100 Programming as Problem Solving (ANU, ~150 students, Semester 2, 2020): I stepped in as co-convenor at short notice during the transition to online teaching due to COVID. I managed 8 tutors, redeveloped lecture notes from scratch, coordinated online examinations via Gradescope, and prepared supplementary exams. The course received positive student feedback - 4.6 out of 5 in "the teacher treated students with respect."
Managing these teams required clear communication of expectations, consistent assessment standards, and supporting less experienced demonstrators and tutors in their own teaching development.
