Artificial Intelligence Virtual Patient (AIVP)
Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly advancing, but its use in simulating patient-doctor interactions for Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) is still emerging. In 2024, we developed AI Virtual Patient (AIVP) scenarios that replicate emergency department presentations in critical care. Phase 3 medical students participated in this research project and gave highly positive feedback, highlighting the AIVP as an effective tool for building confidence in clinical assessment and OSCE preparation. Based on these outcomes, AIVP will be introduced as a mandatory activity for Critical Care students in 2026.
