The Australian Physiology Society (AuPS) is the professional association for Australian physiologists and encourages all aspects of research and teaching in this discipline. Their annual national scientific meeting provides an excellent opportunity for professional development and a forum for disseminating my research on the molecular and cellular basis of hearing loss, with a focus on hearing adaptation in response to noise. In my new Education Focussed role (2020), I saw the opportunity to engage with fellow teaching academics on a national level and learn about what other universities are doing. It also prompted me to reflect on my own teaching practice.
Convening the Neuroscience Fundamentals (NEUR2201) course since 2021 has allowed me to further analyse the peer assessment used in this course, with me presenting the data at AuPS in 2022.
