Over the last 20 years I have engaged in a range of activities to maintain and further develop my content expertise in Medical Education. I built on the foundation of my PhD in Medical Education, during which I examined the impact of curricular innovation on Students' Approaches to Learning. The grounding in educational theory that resulted from that work has enabled me to critically engage with educational literature and develop a deep understanding of how to apply educational theory to benefit learners. My expertise in educational research has been recognised by invitations to review top ranking journals in my field (British Journal of Educational Psychology, Focus on Health Professions Education, BMC Medical Education, Studies in Higher Education) and by an invitation to be an Associate Editor of the journal Higher Education Pedagogies.
My scholarly contributions to the discipline have been recognised through the prestigious Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand Association for Health Professional Educators. My expertise in education has been further recognised by national and institutional awards:

- UNSW Vice Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence
- Award for Teaching Excellence, UNSW Medicine
- Award for all round achievement in Teaching and Research, SPHCM, UNSW
At UNSW, I have also received the highest level of recognition by being selected as a Scientia Education Fellow.
