Leading educational research to enhance quality of teaching

I have led and participated in multiple innovations and research projects to improve teaching in higher education in both Australia and Sri Lanka. I have trained more than 10 medical students and junior doctors in educational research during these projects, and the findings have been shared with peers at national and international meetings by me or the students (e.g. Teaching and leraning froums at UNSW 2018 - 2021, Asia Pacific Medical Education Conference in Singapore 2013 and 2015, International Medical Education Conference in Malaysia 2014)

Completed projects

  1. Using patient narratives for teaching Pathology
  2. Impact of peer assisted learning among medical undergraduates in Sri Lanka
  3. Learning styles of medical undergraduates (> 300 citations)
  4. Reasons for "brain drain" of junior doctors in Sri Lanka
  5. Problematic internet use among medical undergraduates in Sri Lanka
  6. Knowledge seeking behaviours of junior doctors in Sri Lanka

Ongoing projects

  1. Impact of COVID related mobility restrictions on student satisfaction with undergraduate teaching
  2. Comparison of student learning when teaching is delivered face-to-face or online
