Ongoing professional development and pedagogical training

Being a clinician prior to an associate lecturer, I understand that there are gaps within my pedagogical skillset and am constantly striving to improve my teaching. I have since independently sought further training and feedback, through both formal programs and groups such as FULT, the Exercise Education Group (‘ExEd’ – a working group for the Council of Heads of Exercise, Sport and Movement Sciences), the UNSW Mentor program ‘Career Collaborator’ and informal peer mentoring.

I am also a council member of the ESSA Standards Council, who provide advice and assist in the development, review and monitoring of the professional standards which govern the Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science and Sports Science industries, which allows me the unique opportunity of a deeper understanding of what will be required of our students and graduating clinicians.
