UNSW-wide Student Wellbeing Stakeholder Mapping Project

The Student Wellbeing Education Focussed Community of Practice (COP) are undertaking a project that we envision will benefit the wider UNSW community. We are reaching out to all faculties and schools to assist us with this endeavour. So firstly, an overview of our COP:

The Student Wellbeing COP recognises students as holistic beings with many individual differences and circumstances that contribute to their overall wellbeing. The goals of the Student Wellbeing CoP are to:

  1. Provide a collegial environment for UNSW staff to engage in collaborative knowledge sharing and innovation in initiatives and resources in student wellbeing

  1. Support UNSW in promoting safe, inclusive and nurturing environments for students and staff

  1. Facilitate timely and simple access to resources and support services

  1. Promote education on aspects related to wellbeing domains

  1. Highlight and work collaboratively to address barriers to student wellbeing

Student Wellbeing Stakeholder Mapping Project

An important initial step being undertaken by the CoP is to create a map of all the student wellbeing stakeholders across UNSW. Our aim is to generate a holistic understanding of all the people and departments across the university that have interest in student wellbeing. By identifying stakeholders at three distinct levels: university (divisions, DVC, PVC), faculties and schools, our aim is to build communities and networks centred around student wellbeing. This project has attracted buy-in from several significant groups at UNSW including the PVCESE pillars (education, wellbeing, educational innovation, experience) and the EF portfolio (through grant funding).

Student wellbeing stakeholder definition: Individuals and group of individuals who have active interest, involvement and/or investment in student wellbeing.

Our goal is to support a whole of university approach to supporting the wellbeing of our students by creating a student wellbeing network. The interests, priorities and expectations of student wellbeing stakeholders will be gathered and analysed as part of mapping, as well as their roles and responsibilities, and areas of influence within the university. This information will contribute to the creation of a digital student wellbeing network, including hubs and nodes, with the goal of facilitating easy access to supports and resources for students and staff. The stakeholder map will create a visual, interactive, and digital network of stakeholders across all the faculties, schools, and divisions of the university. This project has been funded by the EF grants scheme.
