Teaching context and philosophy
Dr Aidan Tan is a paediatric doctor who lives and works in Sydney and is actively involved in community, health, and education organisations serving local families. His work focuses on strengthening public services and community institutions so they work better for people from diverse backgrounds.
Aidan serves on the Medical Board of Australia and a number of not-for-profit boards across health, disability, aged care, education, and community services. Through these roles, he has contributed to work on workforce development, cultural safety, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and improving access to services for multicultural communities.
Alongside his governance work, Aidan is a Paediatric Registrar and Deputy Chief Resident Medical Officer at Sydney Children’s Hospital. He also teaches and supervises students at the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales. He brings a practical, collaborative approach to leadership, grounded in frontline experience, community accountability, and a strong belief in fair and well-run public services.
