Academic Lead for Peer Assisted Study Support (PASS) group 2021/22

PASS offers three free out-of-class study sessions per term to all Phase 1 medicine students. The sessions are facilitated by student leaders who have successfully completed phase 1 and are in later years of their study. The program is supported by the student academic lead of MedSoc.

PASS aligns well with my committed to increasing student support, and therefore in 2021 I enthusiastically grasped an invitation to become Academic Lead of the Peer Assisted Student Support (PASS) program, a strategic initiative of the Faculty’s Health25 Education strategy. PASS programs enhance partnerships with, and among, students and support our students to develop appropriate study habits. I enjoyed working with the MedSoc leads in this role, however in 2022 I handed over the leadership to enable my more junior colleague, Karan Bland, to gain leadership experience. Karan is deeply invested in inclusion and supporting diversity and therefore the role was a perfect fit for her.
