In Phase 1 Medicine at UNSW, I deliver scenario-based learning across Beginnings, Growth & Development, Health Maintenance, and Ageing & Endings. While the curriculum is centrally designed, I play a key role in adapting delivery for diverse learners and providing structured feedback to convenors to inform ongoing refinement.
During facilitation, I shape discussions to highlight core learning outcomes, encourage clinical reasoning, and link biomedical knowledge to patient-centred scenarios. I create supportive environments where students feel confident to contribute, and I vary questioning techniques to scaffold learning for students at different levels of preparedness.
After sessions, I provide targeted feedback to course convenors on scenario content and flow, helping to improve clarity, sequencing, and alignment with student needs. I also mark portfolios and provide constructive feedback to students, using assessment results and reflections from facilitation to enhance delivery in future sessions.
