The majority of teaching staff in pharmaceutical medicine Master program are external guest lecturers and tutors who are industry experts but have limited educational experience. As the coordinator of the courses of the program, I have provided educational and pedagogical advice and guidance to new and existing guest lecturers and tutors on how to improve their presentations for various courses, including regulatory affairs, clinical trial management, pharmaceutics and therapeutics. I provided advice to them on how to improve students’ engagement and provide constructive feedback in an online learning environment. I helped them to improve the alignment of the learning objectives with course learning outcomes, adjust the scope and depth of their lectures based on my analysis of prior knowledge of different student cohorts. I demonstrated to them how to incorporate the PBL, scenario-based learning and case study into their classes to motivate and engage students. I also facilitate weekly online classes for guest lecturers/tutors by moderating chat box discussions and running pop quizzes in real time for them using Backboard polling. I have provided training regularly to demonstrators and tutors for practical classes for pharmacology undergraduate courses. In 2020, I was invited and delivered training on running scenario groups using Blackboard Collaborate Ultra system for fellow facilitators in Phase 1 medicine, which was critical in helping the timely transition to fully online at the beginning of COVID pandemic. As a supervisor, I have provided academic, intellectual and career advice to PhD, Masters, Honours, ILP students, postdoc and early career research fellows. Many of them have made significant progress in advancing their career (See current jobs held by PhD/Master students that I mentored).
