Overview

My teaching is strengthened by my ability to lead curriculum development. I began teaching on a continuing basis into the Design, Media Arts and Curatorial streams of the Art & Design Curriculum while completing my PhD (2014-18). I was employed to convene, manage staff, moderate and submit grades at UNSW Art & Design in 2016 while completing my PhD. I was offered an EF Contract (Fixed Term) starting Term 2 of 2019 and was made an on-going Academic at Level B in April 2024.

As a contribution to course review and/or renewal (UNSW AEF, D1, D3, p. 4), I also completed the Course Development Program at UNSW Art & Design. While convening and teaching the Advanced Studio for Media Arts, I was also challenged with reflecting on the content, the assessments, their criteria and the weighting of it. This often meant rewriting and producing new content to match the work the students were wanting to make, namely in the areas of interaction design, animation and interactive art. This design and delivery of high-impact innovation (UNSW AEF, D3, p. 4) brought an iterative and student-centred methodological approach to my curriculum design, which resulted in a more authentic and personalised learning experience being designed for my students. This initiative instigated my convening other bridging courses for our graduating students, including Professional Practice, Capstone, Media Arts Honours, and convening and programming lecture programs for the Masters of Curating and Cultural Leadership program. This work was recognised by invitations to leadership positions within the EF Community, such as Pod Leadership in TAPS, and for both the School of Art and Design in 2022 (Director of Education and Work Integrated Learning) and the Faculty ADA in 2024 (Director of Lifelong Learning). These activities demonstrate leadership of professional accreditation for courses and programs (UNSW AEF, L2, p. 4).
