Teaching context and philosophy
Dr. Tillman is an Education Focused academic who's teaching methodology stems from a practice-led research approach featuring criteria-based methodologies for creative thinking. Her teaching context spans undergraduate professional practice and research methodologies in media arts; and coursework masters for interaction design, human-centred design, and curatorial and cultural leadership. She is currently the Director of Lifelong Learning for the Faculty of ADA.
Since being awarded her PhD in 2018, she has been appointed the Lead in Culture and Technology in the Creative Robotics Lab (CRL) and Art Director in the National Facility for HRI Research where she mentors both MPhil and PhD students in collaboration with her fellow academics. In 2022 she was invited to the school leadership group in directing and convening the Work Integrated Learning courses for students transitioning from study to industry. Deborah also held the position of Director of Education (2022-4) and remains the EF Champion and New EF CoP Co-Lead for A&D due to being an effective and engaging educator who facilitates quality learning experiences for her students. She also mentors fellow educators through platforms like TAPS and CDI.
