Student Experience Grant: Interdisciplinary first year assignments

With two colleagues, we applied in 2020 and obtained a faculty Student Experience Grant of about 5K AUD to develop learning resources. We use the grant to employ four students (2 undergraduate and 2 postgraduate) to help us designing first year maths assignments that are aligned with different students' interests and careers. The outcome were assignments with different 'flavours' for the students to choose from. These have been used by students since Term 1 of 2021. The students involved in the project organised interviews with academic staff from multiple faculties, designed new problems, and used suitable coding to make the questions available on the digital platform Mobius. Our role was to mentor the students as partners and to finalise the product.
