Students in first-year corses have been given the chance of choosing between different tutorial styles. An innovative one is the workshop style, that I designed together with the Director of First Year Studies. In this tutorial, students are given a sheet of questions with a guide to solve them, or an old assessment question with several solutions, some of which wrong or partially wrong. Students discuss these questions in groups and mark the solutions that are given. Tutors are present as facilitators and to provide feedback, but the bulk of the work is done by learners. The learning environment is very active.
