Meeting teaching responsibilities effectively
I fulfilled my teaching expectations effectively since my appointment at UNSW as evidenced by the myexperience surveys. My ratings in the courses I teach are above the University, Faculty and School average on most occassions. Training junior doctors in research
I train and mentor junior doctors in research methodology in Australia and Sri Lanka. This is equivalent to honours supervision at UNSW . I am focussed on outcome based mentoring and self-empowerment of trainees to achieve the goals set out at the beginning. All completed projects have been published and some of them are listed below.
Training HDR students in research
I have supervised five PhD students to completion (joint primary supervisor - 3, secondary supervisor - 2), and currently supervise three more students as primary / joint primary supervisor or co-supervisor at UNSW. These PhD students are from Australia, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Peru. In addition, I mentored one PhD student enrolled in University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
