Constructive and Actionable Feedback

Across courses I co-convene (ANAT1521/2111 Introductory Anatomy, ANAT2452 Fundamentals of Neuroanatomy, MFAC1527 Society and Health), I provide students with timely, actionable feedback on their performance throughout the term. General feedback is delivered through Moodle (e.g. overall mark distributions). Importantly, I also provide opportunities for students to request detailed, personalised feedback via email or in-person meetings (e.g. comprehensive feedback for each incorrect answer in a midterm exam).

I analyse cohort performance data after each assessment to identify common mistakes, which then inform my future tutorials/revision materials. This feedback cycle supports students’ ongoing development and contributes to sustained improvements in learning outcomes across courses.

The myExperience results highlight the impact of this approach (see below). My ratings for the “Helpful Feedback” component of the surveys have remained close to 100%, consistently exceeding School, Faculty, and UNSW benchmarks. This reflects my commitment to making feedback a continuous, empowering learning tool and aligns with my objective of student-centred learning.

A summary of myExperience survery scores specifically relating to the "helpful feedback" category, compared to faculty, school and the university. Since 2022, I have consistently achieved strong results related to student satisfaction based on the feedback i provide across courses (higher than faculty, school and univesity).
