Supporting student learning

The results of my teaching perspectives inventory (http://www.teachingperspectives.com/tpi/) show that I identify most with the nurturing teaching perspective. This assumes that students become effective learners when they work towards solving problems without fear. To accommodate this, I provide the most supportive learning environment I can that acknowledges, and accommodates for, the different ways in which students learn. I strive to provide a learning environment where students feel supported and comfortable to ask questions.

"Matt has an easy going style of presentation that is non-threatening and fosters students asking him questions" (Peer review: Observation of teaching report. HESC1511, 2018)

"Easy to approach and ask questions" (Individual teacher report. HESC3541, 2019).

"I enjoyed Matt's teaching style. Even when correcting techniques or programming, it was always done in a constructive and non–judgemental manner, which is quite nice!" (Individual teacher report. HESC3501, 2020).

"Matt is so friendly and approachable. He is always easy to understand and knowledgable. I feel like he really cares about his students and this subject." (Individual teacher report. HESC3541, 2020).
