Interactive Teaching in the Classroom

After being assessed in the summative peer review of teaching at UNSW in 2018, one of the assessors noted how interactive the classroom was:

"It is apparent that most of the students love the interactive environment in teh lecture. To a certain degree, some students even approached Stuart for a short discussion prior to his lecture proper."

I welcome interaction in the class. The other peer review assessor also noticed how safe the discussion space is and how students are encourage to self-reflect on issues and given process level feedback:

“Students were invited to offer and share their opinions and understanding of concepts in those problematic questions. Also, during his discussion with students their team-based learning exercises, it is evident that Stuart encouraged students to self-reflect on those issues before responding to their queries.”
