Many first-year students find the start of anatomy study overwhelming, not only because of the volume of content, but also because they must quickly learn the unfamiliar language of anatomy. To address this challenge (in ANAT1521/2111 – a course I co-convene), I created a series of short videos explaining foundational topics such as anatomical terminology, orientation, and planes. These resources were designed and uploaded to Moodle to supplement students’ learning and complement live teaching sessions, allowing students to consolidate understanding.

Anatomy-education research shows good evidence that the use of short videos reduces cognitive load, increase engagement, and improve learning outcomes (reinforcing the value of these support clips). They have been positively received as supportive tools that make the transition into anatomy more manageable and engaging.
