Leadership Role in Curriculum Design and Review

As part of the University Program Review Committee (PRC) and in my role as Chair of the Academic Programs Committee (APC), I have reviewed many existing and proposed programs and courses. For the PRC, I have examined if the procedure for program review was followed and looked a recommendations for changing the programs as well as the Faculty response to those recommendations. I would write reports to the committee and make recommendations about the review and review process for submission to the Academic Board. For the APC, I look at the proposed or amended learning outcomes, mapping of these outcomes between programs and courses and what AQF levels are being taught within the program. I am particularly focused on the use of group work within courses and in making sure that those proposing the courses are aware of best practice recommendations from the groupwork community of practice at UNSW. In particular, I am focused on building a strong community around APC in terms of discussion and awareness of resources around assessment and feedback.
