The Australian Diabetes Society (ADS) is a joint organisation with the Australian Diabetes Educator Association (ADEA) which co-host the Australasian Diabetes Congress annually. As a casual academic in the field of Pathology, this society provides an excellent opportunity to not only remain current with the pathology, presentation and complication of diabetes but also highlights the barriers

I was a member of the Research Support Committee for the School of Medical Sciences (SOMS) between 2020-2022. Although not a direct educational role, the committee was comprised of a diverse range of professionals including course convenors and the SOMS Honours Committee. Volunteering for this committee provided me with extensive insight into the leadership, critical thinking and decisiveness
