Introducing ECGs (Expectations, Contributions, Guidelines) in Scenario Group Sessions within the Medicine course
Introduced the Concept of ECG during SGs to engage students and promote student-centred learning in sessions by allowing them to share their personal expectation from the SGS, the contribution they're commit to making to achieve the expectation they set out, and a guideline they determine to help them stay on their course. This was done on the Padlet platform where SG members can pen down
Using the RRR (recall, rectify, retain) strategy for transfer of knowledge from short-term to long-term memory
Integrated regular online poll questions (about every 10 minutes) to encourage students to recall the content learnt, rectify any misconceptions early in their understanding and encourage retention of the knowledge into longer term memory.
Student feedback indicated a strong appreciation for the approach as it helped them remain engaged throughout the 50 minutes of lecture
