ANZCA Lifeblood VHA module design and creation in collaboration with Haematology
In 2024 I did some lectures for Lifeblood on their clinical transfusion course, with Dr Clarke, a haematologist at Lifeblood
I then approached ANZCA with a concept for a critical bleeding module for all anaesthetists in A&NZ and they took the rest of 2024 to establish a memorandum of understanding between the two bodies, this had not been done before.

Collaboration with Industry-teaching on the WERFEN international transfusion course and CSL advisory board
My work involves collaboration with industry, particularly Werfen International, where I was an invited speaker for the last three years on faculty for the annual international patient blood management course. This course is run as 3 hours of lectures over 6 consecutive Saturdays across over 80 countries and to more than 2500 participants. I presented a lecture and created Multiple choice exam
National invited speaker for Red cross Lifeblood and National Anaesthesia meetings
I have been an invited speaker at National events including 2024 Lifeblood Clinical transfusion course nationally, to haematologists .
The College of Anaesthetists ANZCA had their annual scientific meeting in Cairns in May 2025 and I was invited to lecture and also run a series of workshops/

DECIDE study: Dexmedetomidine in Cardiac surgical Intraoperative Drug Evaluation
The DECIDE study is a large (n=1,100) four year, triple blind, placebo-controlled, randomised trial evaluating whether dexmedetomidine (DEX) improves:
- Days alive and free of delirium and coma at 14 days

In 2025 I established a cross-disciplinary group including a haematologist from Lifeblood and 2 transfusion nurses and alongside my fellow we authored this important piece which promotes a new way of understanding and implementing transfusion management in critical bleeding
